Hospice of the Red River Valley to Host Virtual ‘Powerful Tools for Caregivers’ Series

Hospice of the Red River Valley is hosting a free six-week class series focused on caregivers residing in North Dakota. Powerful Tools for Caregivers is designed to provide caregivers with the confidence and support to better care for a loved one and themselves. All caregivers are welcome to participate, including those who care for a spouse, partner, friend or a child with special needs. Caregivers will learn valuable skills whether you provide care at home or in a care facility; whether down the block or miles away. Classes are held virtually on Thursdays from 1:30-3 p.m., Oct. 15-Nov. 19. Attendees will join the class by videoconference. The classes give you tools to help: -Reduce stress -Improve self-confidence -Manage time, set goals and solve problems -Better communicate your feelings -Make tough decisions -Locate helpful resources For more information and to register, contact Julie Rivenes at (701) 356-1503 or julie.rivenes@hrrv.org. Journeying Through Grief

Journeying Through Grief is a free series of classes designed for those who are recently bereaved. It is intended for adults 18 years and older who have experienced the recent loss of a loved one. The sessions will help you better understand the grief process, explore methods of self-care, and embrace and carry memories with you as you move forward. This series of virtual classes is free and open to the public. Registration is required one day prior to the first class date. A series of three virtual classes held on Thursdays, Oct. 15, 22 and 29 from 6-7:30 p.m.

Trunk Street

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Come cruise down Trunk Street on Saturday, October 31 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. in Bethel Church’s main parking lot! Cars will make their way along the designated path to see all the creatively DECORATED trunks! Each car will receive a VOTING ballet to vote for their FAVORITE trunk. Families will receive a Bingo card to complete along the way! At the end of Trunk Street cars will have the opportunity to stop, get out, and take a family/friend group photo at one of our photo booths. All kids will then receive a Halloween Goodie Bag to take home!

Join us for some fall fun at all three campuses! North Campus | 2900 Broadway N, Fargo South Campus | 3636 25th St S, Fargo West Campus | Scheels Arena Parking Lot, 5225 31st Ave S, Fargo Treats will be bagged and distributed in a contact-free manner. Social distancing practices will be utilized and masks are required. Hand sanitizer will be available. Event runs 4:00-7:00pm on October 31.

Bethel Church's MOMs (Mission of Motherhood) Group meet Tuesdays from 9:00 - 11:00am in the Bethel Church Gym. Moms and children will meet in the gym together as a large group for encouragement and fellowship with other moms. Our Children's Program is not available this semester - moms will watch their children as they play and hear a Bible lesson! All moms are welcome. Registration required. Celebrate Recovery

6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ centered, 12 step recovery program for anyone who is struggling with a hurt, hang-up, or habits. This can include people struggling with addictions but also includes anyone struggling with finding joy in their life. Joy robbers can include: low self esteem, anger, relational struggles, or other things that hurt you or cause you to hurt others. We meet every week to learn about recovery and more importantly, receive love and support in a non-judgmental atmosphere. Meetings are Tuesday nights, 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church, 220 S Dohney Street, Northwood, ND.

Supporting Relationships and Special Needs

Being a parent of a child or teen with special needs can be very isolating. Join our counselor and mother of children with special needs, Kristin Sharbono, LPCC, for an initial 4 week group, with an optional ongoing monthly support group for continued encouragement. She holds a strong belief that a family is a unit that needs to be given tools and be supported together.
