Music is one of the biggest reasons I started a career in radio broadcasting. I’ve heard it said that music has a way to connect when nothing else will. A 3-minute song can change our attitude, our mood, and our day. God can use a song to change a life!

Recently, I heard a song that pulled at my heartstrings from the moment I heard it. It was from the worship group, LO Worship, and the song was called “Steady Light.” The lyric that caught my attention read: “Day and Night, You are Faithful, You are my Steady Light.”

This lyric was a great reminder for me of a simple but amazing truth:  God is faithful.

Sometimes in life – especially when circumstances do not line up how I think they should – it’s easy for me to focus on the past and the “what could have been.” However, rather than focusing on the disappointment of an outcome, I need to remember that I need to focus on Him.

Jesus refers to himself as light in John 8:12. He says “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” He is in every situation, and He remains faithful and will keep being my Steady Light. God’s Word promises He will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in Him. (Isaiah 26:3)

There is hope in having a steadfast heart and mind towards God. When we steady our hearts and minds on Him because our trust is in Him, He promises to give us His peace – a perfect peace. He cares for us and pays attention to all the details of each of our lives.

Deuteronomy 31:8 It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

Matthew 10:29-31 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Maybe you’re in a situation that has caused you pain, anxiety, or stress. Maybe the circumstances that surround you aren’t quite as you hoped. Know that Jesus cares for you, He is still there, and He continues to be faithful. Be reminded not to focus on the pain or the distractions of this world but instead focus on the Light of the World. Jesus is my steady light, and He wants to be yours too!
