I started this journey in radio over 20 years ago and have been privileged to serve communities in North Dakota and briefly in Alberta, Canada. A little over three years ago, God called my family and me to Fargo as He opened the door to allow me to serve as Program Director at Life 97.9. Our move to Fargo-Moorhead has been a season of growth and excitement, and we have fallen in love with the area. The reasons are numerous, but here are a few of our favorites!
It’s a nice place! No, I’m not talking about the winters; I am talking about the people! The phrases “Minnesota Nice” and “North Dakota Nice” aren’t just simple clichés, they are so true! Seeing people help others get unstuck during one of our many snowstorms, watching the community come together to help pack meals for the hungry, observing how people still greet each other at the local coffee shops–these are just a few of the wonderful examples of kindness exemplified by the people of Fargo-Moorhead! I have had the opportunity to meet with so many of you who listen to Life 97.9. and have been warmly welcomed. Thank you!
Another reason we have enjoyed the community is for the big city activities and adventures with the familiar warmth of a smaller town. From taking in Red Hawks baseball, Fargo Force hockey, Bison football or enjoying the many shopping and eating establishments, to exploring the many parks and museums (the examples are numerous!), there is so much to take part in within the community. My children love being a part of their schools and the many extracurricular offerings, especially in band and choir!
Fargo-Moorhead is a place that feels like home! It is said, “home is where your heart is”, and my heart is my family! Life 97.9 and its listeners have become like family to me. Thank you for welcoming my family and me and even more so now as I transition to being the new Station Manager of Life 97.9. I am excited and honored to serve our listening family!
Blessings,
Jarrett Stevens
