What if there was a book called “The Night After Christmas?”
The Christmas story found in Luke chapter 2 is amazing! It tells us of the birth of Jesus who was sent to become the Messiah and all that happened with shepherds and angels, Joseph and Mary. Four things happened the night after Christmas which we should be aware of.
First, there was a proclamation. Luke 2:17, “When they had seen Him, they spread the Word concerning what had been told them about this child.”
Secondly, there was a great wondering! Luke 2:18, “And all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.”
Thirdly, there was a pondering! Luke 2:19, “But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.”
Finally, there was a glorifying! Luke 2:20, “The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.”
All of this happened “The Night After Christmas,” as Jesus was already born. Christmas is over, but the Church is also to live each of these today as best that we can.
- Proclaiming Jesus to the world we live in.
- Are we still as amazed at Jesus as the day we first believed?
- Is our closeness to God in pondering Him in our hearts, treasuring up those prayers and experiences with Him still happening?
- Do we still glorify God for all we are told and see, like our Salvation, our going to Heaven, and our access to God at any time?
The” Night After Christmas” has been going on for 2,018 years and we can also experience these things in a very real way through our day.
