In response to the controversial Netflix series, I thought it might be helpful to share 13+ Reasons Why Not. I hope this sheds a little light in the darkness and provides a glimmer of hope to those who need it.
People have let me down, I don’t know who I can trust.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Does anyone really care?
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! 1 John 3:1
Feeling attacked by others …
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 1 John 4:4
Does God really know me?
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139: 13 -15
But, it’s scary…
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
Will things ever work out for me?
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
Will I ever be at peace with my life?
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
When I feel like giving up,
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Is God really here for me?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:2
If it seems like an impossible situation,
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
What has God promised me?
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Who can I turn to?
In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:6
When worry and anxiety threaten to overwhelm me,
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6
When I’m feeling discouraged and defeated,
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
In what seems like a hopeless situation, know that,
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Ecclesiastes 3:11
When in doubt,
Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
There is always, always hope
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26
