We’re fast approaching the time of year when many 18-year-olds across the country will end one chapter of their lives and move into their college years. And for many Christian teens, that means stepping into the cornucopial abyss of worldviews you find on secular universities.
Maybe you’ve been preparing your kid since they were a child to face the questions and challenges to their faith — or perhaps you’ve gotten a late start. Whatever the case, Dr. Darrell Bock has written the book Truth Matters, and his goal is to prepare Christian teens to face some of the specific challenges the world will throw at them not only at school, but in nearly every facet of their life.
Dr. Bock says preparing your kids for everything the world will throw at their faith is a process, but it’s most important to ingrain a Biblical worldview into their lives during their teen years:
“The earlier you can start this process, the better. But certainly as they’re getting ready to go to college, you know they leave, they hit the college campus, they have friends who ask questions…they need to be prepared for whatever they’re going to face.”
Bock adds that whether you’re in school or in the middle of your career, one thing regarding sharing and defending your faith remains the same:
“The Scripture says that we should be prepared to give a defense for the hope that’s in us, but we’re supposed to do it with gentleness and respect.”
