Surrender to God and don’t worry
By: Dave Clutter
From time to time we all need a wake up call. Mine came this week when I found myself grumbling over things and circumstances that I have no control over. I am a worrier, and that for me, can translate into impatience, frustration and even anger. Thankfully I have an ultra patient wife that God uses to speak truth into my life.
I can find all the excuses in the world to grumble, but I also know I have a lot for which to be thankful. I have my health, I have a home with beautiful and healthy children, and an incredible wife God has blessed me with. Ultimately I have a Savior, Jesus, that died on the cross for me and rose again.
Pressures of the day and this life can be overwhelming, but clearly, Jesus has done much more that outshines anything I may complain about. I pray I can always acknowledge Christ for His goodness. I also pray this acknowledgement will help me be more Christlike in my actions and attitude.
In ‘My Utmost For His Highest’ devotional today, the advice is clear: If I debate God with my unbelief, I grieve His spirit that lives within me, (Ephesians 4:30). The text of the devotional goes on to say, you must keep yourself in the proper condition to allow the life of the Son of God to be manifested in you. You cannot keep yourself fit if you give way to self pity.
The key is to daily surrender to God, knowing He only wants the best for you and me. Phillipians 4:19 sums it up completely. God is going to take care of us. If we’ll just get out of the way, His grace, blessings and provision will take shape in our lives.
